The Joint

The funny thing about a lot of pubs/bars/cafes around this city, and many towns and cities, is that many of them have enjoyed a variety of previous lives and many of them go on to enjoy a subsequent existence.

No.92 North Hill on the corner of North Hill and Clifton Street, is one such property: home to a dairyman in the late-nineteenth century it was a butcher’s shop 100 years ago and leading up to the last war, since when it has undergone even more changes. Dingles had a grocery department there just after the war, while more recently it has been an outlet of the Plymouth Hire Centre; an early internet cafe; Cafe Laila and, since 2010, ‘The Joint’, a reasonably priced food and drink venue that cater for and deliver to the Mutley and North Road community, although by no means exclusively.
