Half Moon (Old Town Street)

Over the years the Three Towns have had enough Half Moons to make a couple of Full Moons, however there never has been a pub locally by that name, or even just a Moon. Nationally the word has been incorporated into a number of interesting pub names, Blue Moon, New Moon, Moon and Stars, but not here, although there is a Moon Street less than a mile away from the site of the Half Moon in Old Town Street and there was another Half Moon in neighbouring Kinterbury Street.

At one time or another Old Town Street has sported more than a dozen pubs, today however the street that still bears that title, although little relation to the original, has none, and hasn’t for more than fifty years.
