Ferryboat Inn

For hundreds of years there were ferries crossing the Plym at various points, indeed the recent revival of the link between Mount Batten and the Barbican serves to show there is still adequate demand for such a service, however the days of the link between Cattedown and Oreston are long gone (although the Oreston, Turnchapel and Phoenix Wharf link ran well into the 1960s).

The empty and neglected Passage House Inn on the Plymouth side is one reminder of those days when ferries used to ply between the two (the pub was rebuilt in 1904) and when there was a pub called the Ferryboat in Oreston (it appears to have closed sometime around 1912).
