Clarence Hotel

There are one or two other examples, but not many, of a local pub which has had two names and two addresses; the erstwhile Railway Hotel in Zetland Place is one (it is identical with the present Mutley Tavern in Furzehill Road); the St Aubyn Arms in Navy Row is another. The difference is though that while Navy Row was renamed Albert Road and the St Aubyn Arms was rechristened the Clarence Hotel (sometime between 1877-80) the building itself no longer stands and the site today lies beneath the Dockyard extension at Morice Town. It stood on the corner of Mooncove Street and Albert Road (just inside the Albert Road entrance to North (Keyham) Yard).
