Colin was a young camera happy chappie at the time who later went on to enjoy long service behind all manner of filming machines for the BBC and Independent television companies.  He sold his stills business a long time ago and that we have these pictures today is thanks to architect Gerry Nichols who was a fan of the band and had kept photographs taken by Colin and fellow snapper Mike Cox.  For one reason or another both photographers were parted with their original negatives – and hard copies – so both were pleasantly surprised when Gerry turned out his hoard.

The poster version of this particular image was been released by Chris Robinson’s Plymouth in 2003 – forty years on from the original concert. This followed the release of another picture of the sixties most famous pop stars, taken on a later visit to Plymouth, in September 1967, when they were in the Westcountry filming their Magical Mystery Tour extravaganza.

There was, incidentally a third visit, in between these two, in October 1964 – again at the ABC cinema.
