Wilburt Road

Forder Valley Road, which runs along the line of what was once known as Saltash Lane, used to extend along what is now known as Wilburt Road and then into Longbridge Road.

As developments in the area progressed and the construction of the Parkway was imminent it appears that a decision was taken to rename that part of Forder Valley Road that was to be by-passed.

In looking for a new name for part of that road it was suggested that it might be an appropriate gesture to remember one of the men involved with the old Plymouth and Dartmoor Railway, part of which formerly ran alongside Forder Valley itself. The man in question was a local solicitor who served as Clerk to the Railway ... William Burt - hence Wilburt Road.
