Widey Court Walk

There is a suspended pedestrian footpath across the Parkway at Manadon, at the northern end of which are the gates that stood at south western corner of the Widey Estate.

That footpath, is, for reasons that are therefore obvious, called Widey Court Walk. The gates formerly were adjacent to Widey Lodge and there was a keenly fought campaign to keep both the lodge and gates in situ.

The battle was lost however and although the lodge was demolished, the gates were kept and removed to their present location, which is a matter of yards from their original position.
